i have an 84 k 5 blazer that has a strong  305. i was going to swap it out for a poniac 350 until one of my close friends was forced to part out his truck, which included alot of preformance parts, for dirt cheap. so i have to decide if i should keep the 305 and put preformace parts on it or drop the poniac 350 and have to pay full price for it. is the 45 extra cubic inches worth it?

I agree, sort of,if the pontiac is a true pontiac you'll have to change tranny to B.O.P.bolt pattern, motor mounts will have to be made and(this will make poncho fans mad)the350 isn't much better than your305.If I was going to all the trouble i'd put in a 400 or 455 as all three are the same externaly. For ease and power just put a 454 big block in,for mileage-drive the 454 the way the 305 runs.

Leave the Pontiac motor where it lays, it is a whole different animal than the GM 350 that we all know and love.  As for your 305, I wouldn't put any more money into that thing than was absolutely neccessary.  The 305, from its inception, was a junk, low performance motor.  It was developed when everything was about smog and emissions.   Save your money for a 350 that you either rebuild or buy a crate motor.  You don't ever hear of anyone buying a 305 to swap into something.  It is a motor you swap out, not vice versa.
