first of all just want to say whats up  to everyone. i have a 96 silverado z71 that i want to turn into a driver/go anywhere truck. im looking for info, suggestions or other on parts, lift, etc. i was thinking abbout going with a 4-6 inch lift and 35s, but not sure about axles,shocks/springs(leafs?),and so on. never built one before, however im an automotive student in college, have this old truck(still drive it) and thought it would be a good truck to try and build. thanks to anyone who helps.

It sure is fun spending Other People's Money!
Go deep with the gears! Don't be skeered to use 4.56 0r even 4.88's with 35's!

ok first u gotta choose the lift weather its 4wd or 2wd , then if its ifs (independing front suspension)or solid axle . Then if u have coils or leaf springs ,depending on this u can go with brands like Rancho,Procomp,superlift,skyjacker,ex...for wheels and tires ,u can go with some 35"BFG all terrain to start off with, u might have to get some modification to exhaust to clear the higher pitch of the front dfive shaft . Then i would change out the gearing in the diffs along with a limmited slip and or a diff locker lick a detroit locker.I think that would be a good start

i wouldnt screw around with body lifts, they are cheap and if your going to do a 4-6inch suspension lift, you wont need it for only 35s, body lifts cause nothin but trouble from wat ive seen, i dislike them, not to mention they look stupid as hell

I would do a suspension lift with some nice mud terrains. Be sure you have hooks in the front and hitch in the rear. Great truck to start with!
Saw this pic on google, nice before and after for motivation.
