91 ford shifting to early

my tow rig is a 91 f-150 with a 5.0 and the eaod transmision im having promlems with is shifting all the way to over drive before i get to 35 miles an hour even when not loaded. Before i go into buying alot of expensive parts i hope you can tell me what is causing this. Ive got a new computer ordered for it hoping i dont really need it cause its spendy. Any insight on what can make it shift so early with no rpms would be appretiated
