My dads looking into getting his tranny flushed but heard pros and cons about 2 ways of doing it. There was the flush but he heard that the metal filing may not be all flushed out or they can drop the pan and change the fluid that way and change the filter at the same time. So which is a better way to go they both coast about the same.

I do not believe in flushing unless a tranny has been under water or fluid is burnt. Otherwise I would just drop pan, change filter and top it of with 4 or 5 quarts of fresh ATF.

if you drop the pan for 3 or so oil changes (every service) you will eventually flush out all the old fluid.
