I have a 1979 Power wagon with the 360 in it.  When I first aquired the truck it started right up after sitting for 2-3 years.  All I did was drop a fuel line from the pump directly down to a bucket of fuel and I poured a little gas in the carb.  It fired right up and ran until the hose could not reach the gas anymore (which was a good 15 minutes).  I didn't try to drive it because there were no wheels on it yet.  I came back a week or so later with wheels and after we got the wheels on I tryed to fire it up again.  It turned over and caught but didnt stay running for longer than 10 seconds.  The second, therd, and fourth time it turned over and puttered, then after that it just turns over and shows no sign of spark whatsoever.

I replaced the plug wires, ignition coil, 5-prong-plugg ignition control module, ballast resistor, distributor (same old cap and rotor but I sanded the conacts), and I have replaced some wires that were exposed.

I don't know what els to do.  If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, thanks.

check power from the coil if yes then check power from the coil to the distributor if yes possible hairline fracture on cap

Sounds to me like it ran good with fresh gas from a can but the 2 year old varnish in the tank isn't very potent. I would drain the tank(at least, if not drop it and clean it out), clean out the carb and lines and refill with fresh gas.  I've aquired literally dozens of vehicles, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, etc because people forget that gas starts going bad ANYWHERE in less than 60 days. Even in a brand new car.

Ok, I know I have power going to the coil and the distributor, and I can deffanatly get me a new cap and rotor, there pretty inexpensive.

Would that gas issue cause it to not even catch at all even though I pour a little fresh gas down the carb every couple of times I turn it over?  I am for sure going to go ahead and clean out the fuel system, that is a good idea, however with pouring a little gas in the carb do you think I should still get atleast a little sputter when I turn it over?

Yes, it should at least try to catch. I would work backwards at it. Make sure you have good fire, then give it a little drink, it should fire off. With a vehicle that age there's not a lot of stuff to get in the way.
The good news is you know it DOES run. Spark+gas=vroom! Be sure and change that old oil that's been sittin before ya run it too much also.
If you still can't get fire after swappin the cap/rotor, coil, etc turn the motor over with the cap off and make sure the dist is turning. Vintage Mopar "electronic ignition" kinda sucked. When you go buy a module for it, buy two...Welcome to the Mopar owners hell.

Ok, I noticed that the new distributor has a tab on the bottom part that goes into the engine eather one way or the other (I always thought they had gears), and it seems like you have a 50% chance of getting it installed right,so if it's backwards would that also make it have no spark?

I am deffanatly going to take a day or two to change the engine, tranny, and diff oils and to get that fuel system cleaned up.  I guess my goal is to not necessaraly replace absolutely everything but to make all the systems as new and in as good working condition as I can.  This is going to be the mud truck that I want to be able to legally drive to the mudding grounds (I have another project that will deffanatly have to be trailered to the mud spot, not legal enough for the road).

haha so check it out on GMs the engine turns twice for the distributor once so you may have to remove spin and install again

That "tab" actually sits in a slot the center of the gear. If you could see down the hole you would see the gear is already meshed, so YES, you have a 50-50 shot of getting it right(if you don't mark it when you pull it). If the timing is off that much it will make a difference. On that '79 you can sit right up on the fender under the hood and have all the room in the world to work on it. and, yep, it's gonna be about 2 turns to 1 full revolution of the distr. so spin it a half turn, drop it right back in, snug it down hand tight and have somebody hit the key. If you can at least get it to idle on it's own you get the timing where you need it.

i take and pinch gas lines on vehicles that have been sitting that long and duech the carb with carb cleaner take some high test in spray bottle have your buddy try and start it and spray fresh gas in carb when it starts just keep spraying it will keep running then dusch the intire fuel system pb blaster will clean and unclog the lines let it soak over night and air it out with low pressure check rubber lines they could be deteriated which would cause blockage to and from pump and it probaly needs new pump as well you might have to do carb work or replace carb might have cloged a jet or needle might be tarnished
