speedometer is off

at highway speeds, my speedometer is off by about 5 mph. its a 94 GMC with stock tires on it and i waqs wondering if there was anything i can do to get it right.

what have you changed in it?
solid axle chevys cant be beat 78 K5: 350 V8,700r4,np208, 8 lug D44 4:88, 14 bolt 10.5 4:88 with detroit locker and 35 inc parenelli jones dirt grip tires

i never did anything to it... that is how i got the truck... i did notice that the tire size is smaller than stock but not by much... the stock size is 265/75r/16 and the tires that are on it is 245/75r16... i think that could be a problem but there not that much smaller... what do you think?

265 were not stock but some seem to use them and think they are. It is possible to have a speedometer shop simply recalibrate speedo itself. If it was a 96 or new OBD2 truck, you could fix it easy with a aftermarket tuner.
