hi i am a 17 year old teen about to get my license and dont know what to get for a first car it is either a 1993 nissan pathfinder se V6 4x4 with 45,000 miles and a trnasmission that has failed 3 times and right now it is with the mechanic or a 1996 ford explorer Eddie Bauer with a v8 and allwheel drive that if i buy ill want to transform it into a 4x4 so my question is which one would be cheaper to fix up?

Explorer.
Sure it's a V8 though? or a 96? They didn't put V8's in that gen Explorer...

I take that back, '96 was the first year of the 5.0 V8.
I vote Explorer. There is a much much greater aftermarket for them (same suspension as Rangers) than the Nissan.
And why buy a Nissan that has been through three transmissions already? Sounds like a headache waiting to happen.

Still three failures... whats keeping it from failing on you?
Why swap the case? It still has a low range.
