I,m thinking about putting a small block in a 91 cherokee,is the jeep radiator big enough to keep it cool?

Do the math here. Bigger engine, more heat, bigger radiator. Beside a 4.0 can do a lot in a Cherokee "if" you take time to regear axles. As they shipped they tended to have tall axles and through in big tires and a lift and they are really ham stringed. Put some nice deep gears in axles and you will not be disappointed.

A SB would be cool, and the 4.0 is a good motor as long as it stays in the jeep it came in. but remember its a unibody not a frame so the more HP the easier it would be to warp.

yep, plans were 8.8 rear w/detroit 4.56s f&r,then alternator locked up,wife drove till it quit, hence no 4.0 anymore-auto trans was already questionable(i know factory gears and 35s)so add 350 700r4 241 and a 44 front if/when it breaks=hotrod.somewhere the other day I saw an ad for bolt in motor mounts for this project-anybody know who-where?

I think if you build a mild or stock 350 you can safely run the jeep...look at the camaros and trans ams the had frt sub frames on them that bolted to the body and didnt have any problems w/them running big power.
I just found this link...copy and paste to see 350 added to xj and what you can use and what you cant.www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/xj_swap.htm
