most people really don't understand the 203...IT IS NOT JUNK...as you have found its actually really strong..some people just don't like the full time function but you can solve that by putting on front hubs...
solid axle chevys cant be beat 78 K5: 350 V8,700r4,np208, 8 lug D44 4:88, 14 bolt 10.5 4:88 with detroit locker and 35 inc parenelli jones dirt grip tires

That and the part-time kit in the case itself. This sounds crazy to most I discuss this with but I personally like the 208, 241 or 243. They are light weight, easy to rebuild if it needs new bearings (thats all I've ever done to a 208), they shift easy, smooth, and a little noisy in LO range but its lower geared than the 203 or 205. They all have their pros and cons.

dang lihght went out...I liked the nvg 271 behind the hemi..and yes i smoked plenty of chebbies in 4 high. i figure if the diesle truck pullers can have a 1000ftlb turbo diesle abuse it, then a little romp on the tarmack is ok, a 203 would make a great awd rally truck/racer coz if ya stick a traction adder in both axles and a diff in the middle..woo hoo!

I have both a 203 and a 208. The 208 was mated to a chevy turbo 350C. My 208 has an electrical plug on it my question is can I mate that case up with a regular turbo 350
