Jeep Warranty

I am sure some of you know this, but for us who did not. Adding an aftermarket lift, tire and wheels to your 2008 Jeep Wrangler voids the entire warranty. I would advise anyone who wants a Jeep that will actually go offroading that they do not buy a new one, you will not have a warranty and parts are not cheap.

I am going to attempt another dealership, the nearest one is 60 miles away, so driving with a sway bar broken at the welds is a little rough

In cases like this you are protected under the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson-Moss_Warranty_Act
It basically states that a manufacturer can not void an entire vehicle warranty because of an aftermarket part. They can only decline the warranty work if the failure of the OEM part was directly caused by the addition of the aftermarket part.
For example, your lift kit. Let's say you take your Jeep to the dealer to have them fix a faulty radio, they can not void the warranty on your radio because you installed a lift kit. However, lets say you break an axle shaft, they have no obligation to honor that warranty because you added larger tires than stock placing undo stress on the axle causing it to break.
Make sense?
And, really, in the end it all comes down to dealerships and service departments. They can warranty almost anything for any reason, it's all at their discretion.
Good luck.

He has it right. If tranny, axles, driveshafts, tcase etc fail because of lift and tires the dealer is not being a "dick" and can void warranty on those items. One way around this though is to regear axles to restore warranty on drive train parts (tranny, Tcase, engine, etc) by getting EFFECTIVE final drive ratio back to were it was stock. If you do not regear you are adding a lot of stress to drive train.

Let me see, I am a car company and I sell a new car and then someone lifts it up and adds bigger tires to it the increase strain on drivetrain and axles and I am still going to warrant it the same as stock? Not me.

Sorry guy. The second you changes the suspension on your jeep you changed the factory geometry and the warranty too!! Buy a new sway bar and find out why "you" broke it and fix it so you don't again. Regearing will only void your warranty on the axles.Don't get me wrong I think some dealers will try to get you to pay for everything but in this case they are right. I wouldn't fix it under warranty.Take it as a learning experience, suck it up and fix it right.
