i don't get why the sequoia never gets any offroad cred... have you looked under one?? same great ifs as the tundra, its got a really stout fully boxed frame, 4 link wiht coils in the rear and a real low range part time 4wd transfer case!!! ALso the 4.7 v8 might not be the most powerfull but damn is it smooth, reliable and effeicnet!!! now comes my question..... how can i disable the traction control that severly limits all the offroad capability.... it won't let excessive wheel spin occur whicht is kinds what you need in a lot of off road siturations, even when in 4low with the traction control turned "off" the computer still isn't complatly asleep and will still take away power when wheels start spinng thus cuaseing you to get stuck even though it is very capable of getting through, the stupid computer wants to get it stuck!!!

Im guessing cause of the computer like you stated and the fact that it cost damn near $60K to own. Its like the Escalade...sure itll do it but no one can justify putting that much money in the mud, rocks or what have you unless your Ted Turner.

I would say that's a good argument against traction control in a "off road" vehicle. Then again, a Sequoia is kind of an expensive vehicle to beat around the woods. Kind of like chrome...it ain't got no bidness on a truck.

This kind of goes back to that whole "Yuppie" 4X4 thing. Not every vehicle with 4WD is an off road vehicle. It would be cool if they still made a "Land-Crusher" that's first priority mission was a wheeler. They could still make a froo froo version with leather and nav systems and dvd for the soccer team, just make one for those of us who don't really even know what they do at a manicure.

Now when you go buy a 4x4 do you buy for comforts your house has to offer like leather heated seats, butt massager , computer controlled items, dvd, ipod, soft supple street tires? Or do you buy nowing your gonna use it and I mean every aspect of the rig. going into the mountains, camping, fishing, hunting. If I was buying on the creature comfort aspect id buy a caddy deville or the new cts not a "yuppie" toyota landcruiser or sequoya w/street tires and w/50 cup holders! and all my 4xs are used to the max...tree scratches, dents, dings, a little cancer. My 86 suburban was fully loaded for its time. hauled my family w/comfortable seats, ac and PWs and not 1 cup holder! just the nesesities.

yeah i knwo what ur saying about not all 4wd vehicles are off roaders but im not talking about the new sequoias with yuppy rear ifs and i don't even think the new ones have a low range, but the first gen sequiaos are very similar to the fj crusiers which seem to have a good following, the sequiaos is only lacking rear locker which you can put in, and a way to disable the traction controal other wise i see it as a very well built vehichle..... coilover ifs up front UNLIKE TORSION BARS OF ESCALADE!!!, REAL LOW RANGE t case, solid rear axle with 4 link, and i really am surprised at the frame toyota put together, its beffier than my 78 k5 blazer frame, its got a higher gvwr to prove it
