Ok so im new to this, so if i go over something cover like thirty minutes ago please ignore my mistake! ha anways i have 1996 GMC Sierra 1500, im looking to ditch the IFS and go to a solid axle kit, i have a full float 14 bolt with discs for the rear and a GM dana 60 front. so obviously i need to swap t-case's i have access to a grip load of NP205 from all different years so i thought i would use one of those. here are my questions, 1. is there an adaptation kit to make the t-case work with my 4l60E trans and retain the speedometer and all otehr functions? 2. how do you mount the shifter for the t-case so it is in reach? anyone with any knowledge on this would be really helpful!

Not sure why you feel you need to change Tcase? 205 has a taller low range and 208 will hold up fine if you properly regear axles for tire size in use and change fluid in it/service regulalry. People that tear up 208's do so mostly because they are running tall/big tires with stock gears and do not consider the added strain of this on Tcase and that it could be eliminated with proper axle gears and not to mention the performance boost that regearing would give as well.

The reason he want to change out the transfer case is because he said he has a gm dana 60. and that would mean the pumkin is on the wrong side for the current transfercase. he needs a dana 60 from a ford.

Yea a Ford Dana 60 Would work a lot better thats what i did but they are So hard to find now adays and if you do 9 times out of ten your pay a ton of Cash for them, Advance adapters Should have that adapter for your NP205 to a 4L60E I've Seen it. Or you could run a Divorced Tcase.

Thanks for your help so far guys! the main reason for swapping the case is for the GM dana 60, i know the ford will be an easier swap but i dont have the $1200 for a junkyard pullout that everyone here is selling. also i want to eliminate my troublesome push button 4 wheel drive..

Petersons used an adapter from advnaced on their 2008 ultimate adventure project truck so its gotta be possible. i emailed the folks over at petersons but i doubt ill get a response with how many emails they get at day.
