Ok so ive got an 83 chevrolet with a small block running a rochester carb. Im interested in makin a snorkel for it have a general idea where t ostart and what i need. my only question is whats the easiest way to attach it to the carbueratoer, what is commonly used that provides an airtight seal with the body of the carb?

DO YOU HAVE THE STOCK AIR CLEANER ASM? IF YOU DO THEN YOU COULD BUILD OFF THAT AND RUN IT WHERE YOU WANT. CAUSE THATS FAIRLY AIR TIGHT.

maybe make a rubber gasket for the air cleaner base? I know it would look redneck as hell, but maybe you could run flexible household air duct or even dryer vent hose where ever you want...i would draw the line at using the downspout off the house for a snorkel. That would look nice in Alabama though.

yah i have the stock air cleaner, just dont know how fairly air tight it is, ive thought of fabricating a, for lack of better terms, a can that would stand in place of the air cleaner

as far as redneck goes, the trucks redneck already, mismatched body panels aid in that matter, so a lil more cant hurt

it's not "redneck" it's custom, or "one off", or Kentucky Chic.

Hey watch them redneck comments, we have feelins' to ya know. As far as fabricating a "can", you have what you need already. Put gaskets btween carb and stock air cleaner, another between aircleaner base and cover. Attach tubing to aircleaner intake tubing and run it where you want.

You have bigger problems that just a snorkle. You need to waterproof starter and bellhousing or you are going to have very short starter life and tranny problems.

the way you can find out if its air tight is run the engine and spray carb cleaner if the engine changes at all then theres the problem
