I'm not a carb specialist but 750 might be a scoosh big for your application plus wasting gas try leaning it out call a hotrod shop or 4x4 shop and tell them what you have and what they suggest. I would(guess) a 650 700 tops

no, i know a 750 is too big for any small block that going  into a 4x4 truck, but the 87 motor im putting in has a much better sized to the motor 650 edelbrock carb on it so that should be fine, but what im curous about is wheater running too big of a carb would cause the rich running problems im seeing, well actually it think its a mix of too big carb and worn out bottom end thats cuasuing the smoke, the bogging is most probabley from to big carb and not low enough axle gears

Yes too big of carb would do what your describing, It sounds like you need to get intouch with somebody that (knows) how too tune your carb. But that 650 should work good

Solid axles can't be beat that is till you go offroading or hit large dips and your either on the seeling or you've punched through the seat

a 750cfm  would work on a 450hp screamer 350. You want a 600 or 650

really?? i never seem to have that problem with my soft ride leaf springs and adustable rancho 9000s on my k5 SOLID AXLE blazer, i also never have to worry about breaking cv shafts, blowing up WEAK ifs ring and pinions, WEAK ifs differnetal cases, replacing bearings every 20,000 miles, putting in new bushings like evey 20,000 miles cuz ive got a SOLID AXLE not a WEAK AND LAME IFS...........

okay i got the motor on engine stand and tore it apart well just the top end, pistons and stuff are still in there, but i looked for reasons that water was in the oil and couldn't find anything obvious, head gaskets were in great shape, there was no water in cyclinders, no visable cracks in the valley or heads, it seemed that the intake is correct for the center bolt heads, the intake manifolds also looked fine but i din't realize untill now that i should have payed more attention to see if they were put in backwards as that could be a caouse right??  i was dissapointed to find out the pistons were like stock pieces, no flat tops and stuff like i was hoping........... so what else would let water in the oil? also was woundering wheater these aluminum heads mentioned in the begining of tread would make more or less power than the freshly rebuilt crate motor heads i have on my loose bottem end 350 in the k5 at present, if i rember corectly they are 369 crate motor heads or somehitng like that but i can't find any info on valve size or flow rates and stuff but i think they are 76cc chambers, how would those make power compared to the 58 cc 1.94 valve aluminum heads??, also i had no idea how light aluminum heads are!!    they should all be aluminum

you probably have a set of the vortec heads that cracked pretty much instantly when overheated. get the new vortec "bowties" small chamber there's two sizes. There the best port design as far as the vortec line of heads go. If that's not the problem then possibly you have a cracked block it happens. Have your heads looked at you can go from there. Unless you didn't put the heads on right to begin with?

the heads arn't vortec's, they are just center bolt aluminum, i got the motor as is so all i did was dissasemble it, and im not flowing with money to go out and buy new heads

have your heads pressure checked, If they are good I'd put money on the intake gaskets. the only thing left is a cracked block which now would be a good time to check for that.

yeah, my friend works at a machine shop/race motor shop and he says he can pressure test my heads for a good price, also about a cracke block, the only way to mag it would be to completley dissasemble it right? i really don't want to dissaseble it..... but well see
