I'm about to buy a 2006 Ram 1500 Quad Cab. Was wondering why there are so few manual transmissions out there, and if it was even possible/wise to mate a 6spd tranny with the 4.7L, 5.7L or Hemi. Basically, is it possible/would it be dumb/is it outrageously expensive to rip out the automatic, sell it, and have a manual transmission installed? How much could that cost?
Secondarily, is it possible/difficult to swap 2007 headlights and/or tail lights onto a 2006?

i like the 545rfe,but sometimes a manual would have been the cats meeow,in certain slow places, look around b4 ya buy, unless the price/need is terribly important right now, look on ebay, also google the price on a 4500-5600 tranny? kinda expensive. as for the lights??

4.5k; even with installation, that's a bit steep--and unnecessary. I think I'll keep looking around. The headlights/tail lights seem to be the same size hole, but I don't know if you could actually swap 07 lights in on an 06.

you cant get a manual with a 5.7 unless you buy a 3/4 ton. 4.7 you could get a manual and if you do swap to a manual you would have to change the powertrain control module or deal with a check engine light. Also the input shaft on the tcase may need to be swapped. Drivelines depending on which trans is used. strait from a dodge technician
