I have an 89 K5 GMC Jimmy. I blew up the 700R4 so I found one out of an 83 K5 with a NP208 Trans case to put in it. The flywheel cover was missing on the 83 tranny and mine doesn't match up. I can drill holes in my cover but what size are the bolts for the cover on the 83? I figured flywheel covers on 700's would be interchangeable but I guess not! Thanks for your help.

Post your question on CK5.com "garage forum," I'm sure someone there will be able to answer your question.

im not super sure about the flywheels but the early 700r4s up to about 85 had differences in front input shaft and were weaker than later 700r4s internally so that may be why youve got some differences, i would really suggest rebuilding the tranny with updated parts so it will handle the off roading.

82 to 84 700R4 had 27 splines and 85 on 30 spline.
