let me set my rc 18 up this weekend with the spectrum 3 so I don't have to worry about frequency issues.

I might be down to go tomorrow.  I will let you know.

The RC18 should be ok to go, but I am swamp this week.  I will let you know.

Typical NiCd's and NiMH's are (for the most part). I couldn't tell you about Lipos, I have no experience there.

This right here is what has me worried about the new hybrids that are coming out with a lithium polymer battery... can we say rolling fireball!?!

So school me here, what makes Lipo so much more prone to fire than a regular NiMH?

Lipos aren't that bad anymore. You do have to watch how low the voltage gets or it won't charge again. The plane guys freak out about them cause when there planes crash, it tears open the cells and get real hot, but the batts to fit 1:10 scale are encased in plastic to protect it from hits and most speed controllers have a lipo cutoff in them now.

I'd throw up some pics of my stockpile, but I really don't want to dig them all out. Seriously though I've got like 30, ask Jason he's seen them everywhere. They are worse than cockroaches.

Yea, I have seen the collection. I'm pretty sure Brian has Noha complex, has to collect two of each RC. Not that there is anything wrong with that

so I read up on Lipo.  It seems like if the plastic casing is damage, and get wet, it can start a fire.
