ok, so....my back has gotten really tore up. So I am thinkin' of lowerin' my f150.....yea I kno, can't take it offroad. Will be gettin somethin for that after the first of the year. So the question is....drumroll please.....my axle is BELOW the leaf srings, do I have to actually flip over the axle when I move it ABOVE the leaf springs?? which means undoing brake lines, bleeding and such??

that would be an axle flip kit which to be done properly would require c-notching the frame so the axle would still have room to travel, would also lower the truck like 6". for the front you would need a drop spindle and a spring, smaller tires all the way around so the won't rub upfront when turning. if you don't want to go that low then you should be able to get a longer shackle (i think that truck has the leaf spring at the top of the shackle as opposed to the bottom) to lower it like 2" and then up front install a drop spindle so it won't effect suspension geometry and you wouldn't need to replace your tires.

how low do you plan on going???
spindles and new leafs/shackles are the way to go.
Im gonna be adding helper air bags for the back of my truck.

If you are adding a air bag to increase lift/load capacity, it does nothing to help control spring wrap for lifts and big tires and sometimes it can make it worse.

why would you undo the brakes? just put the axle on stands, unbolt the U bolts, shackles and mounting points. Take the pack out from the top, put it back under the axle.

You are correct if you do not remove axle this can work fine but to do this right, you should remove axle and weld new perches on the bottom of it and then re-install axle. (you will also need to remove and invert center bolt in springs that indexes it to axle)

a couple inches does wonders for getting in and out of a vehicle, just stick with loger shackles in the rear and drop spindles up front, the cheapest and easiest way to do it
