Anyone have any idea what axles are under my wifes' '99 Montero Sport? I was told by a freind of mine that they were probabaly a Dana, being Mitsubishi is owned by DaimlerCrysler. Doesn't look like a Dana to me, could it be or is it a Japanese axle?  

Mitsu is NOT owned by Chrysler.

And I don't know what the axle is. Sorry.  

Ok thanks, even tried to see if information was stamped in diff housing but it's all in Japanese. I guess I'll have to go to the Mitsu dealer, the problem is most of them don't even know what's in their vehicles anymore. Remember the days when salesman and techs at dealers knew every detail of a vehicle they sold. What happened to them days? Now when you go the dealer and ask what comes in a vehicle mechanical wise, they have that confused look. All they know is how many cupholders and leg and headroom it has.  

Post a picture of the axle if you can, maybe we can identify it that way... I bet it's a Dana...  

I don't think it's a Dana, it has a third member. Thinking it's probabaly Mitsu's equivalant to Toyota axle. Like I said EVERYTHING in Japanese, no English no where to be found.  

Hmm... interesting... maybe it actually is a Toyota axle... like I said, take a picture if you can...
