Im convinced im going with 4.88's. And by the way i have the selet trac np 242. I went wheeling for the first time in the jeep today, The pros:
pretty smooth ride, comfortable, better visability.
The bad: needs locker help bigtime, my blazer with open diffs crawls up these trails i hit without spinning much at all, the light weight of the jeep lead me to have to bump my way up the same trails because the ruts would cause a tire to loose traction and i was just digging holes. Also the front suspension doesnt flex at all,  im going to remove the sway bar and see how much it helps. Here is some pics

check out that wink!

It's got potential! looks like 4" lift springs and 2" spacers to clear the 33's without trimming the fenders.

yeah, the front sway bar will make a huge difference, if your shocks are long enough it'll flex enough to relieve the presure from the coils.
just be carefull while driving it around without the sway bar.. not to worry you'll get used to it!

you'll find a little better ride and more rear flex if ya also remove the rear track bar, the leaf sprung rear doesn't need it.

how much work is involved in swapping a coil sprung rear from a zj into the rear of my xj cherokee.  What parts should i make sure to get, and would i need a slip yoke eliminator,  would it be better than doing an 8.8 swap, i know the 8.8 is stronger but i dont see myself ever breaking the d35, im not a lead foot, and always find a way to creep or bump my way up stuff.  The main reason i want the swap is for the rear disc brakes,  would it be cheaper to just spend 400 on the conversion kit.

I think I would rather at least swap in a Chrysler 8.25 that was used in a few YJ's and TJ's and many XJ's as it is stronger than D35 and also has bigger/stronger axle tubes too. (you will need bigger Ubolts)

I wouldn't swap to coils on the xj, the unibody wasn't designed for em, (not to sat ya can't though)

all ya need to do is cut off the link hangers and coil pads then weld on pads for the leafs..

the outer axle tubes are different on the c clip style along with the bearings,

like snoman suggested, the 8.25 is an improvement also.
