hi, i have a 1997 gmc c1500 suburban. My grandfather has recently purchased me huge tires for my birthday but not a lift kit. I told him not to worry about it since the tires were a little pricey. Here's a link to them, http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tires/Super-Swamper-Bias-IROK.aspx?t_c=13&t_s=158&t_pt=100011&t_pl=3866&t_pn=SSTI-808
Now my question is, what kind of lift kit would anyone recommend. I'm aittle new at this so any input is appreciated.

I have 39.5 under a rcd 6" suspension and a 2" body lift,
8" really isn't enough unless ya get some cut out flares also to free up more room and cover the tire sticking out of em.
front bumper and rear of the well....

wow he bought you 39.5 inc tires! for your stock suburban ur going to need a serious lift to clear them cuz as previoulsy mentioned 8 inc isn't really enough but its adequate with fiender trimming and if you don't off road to hard then you should be fine but if you really stuff the tires up in the fenders then you need more clearance and also 39.5 inc tires aren't nice to 1/2 ton suspension, and axles but if its mostly a street truck i guess youl be fine, you could put some fiberglass fenders up front and with an 8 inc lift the tires would be fine but in the back you would need some more room either trimming or cut out flares

yeah some cut out flares can open up the fenders a few inches and cover the tire sticking out.I plan on em in the future so I wasn't concerned about the buch job that already got done.

thanks for the responses guys. i'm looking at suspension lifts online and it seems that a kit would cost more than all for tires! not to mention a possible body lift and cut out flares. anywhere i can find these items cheaper?

39's on a 1500 even on street is slow death. If your lucky you might get 25K out of ball joints ans suspension but likely a lot less and short tranny life to if you do not regear. I would as mentioned above in thread trade for 35's as a compromise.

theres a few, I use RCD,
6" fits 35's nicely, then some 4.88 or 4.56 gears are in order.... another 1300 bucks. they'll run on stock gears though its a "slow death"

yep, though the 4" will cost the same as the 6, then ya gotta deal with a darn body lift,
mod the fan shroud, move up the bumpers, mess with wireing and linkage.... leave the body lift out unless theres no other way.

yeah selling the 39s and getting 35s sounds like a really good idea if you don't have a big bugdet, a good 6 inc lift will clear the 35s fine and you really should regear the axles if u want your truck to have any balls and tranny to continue living
