I have traced all the vacum lines i could find, some look a little weathered but no cracks or holes that i can see i have put three pcv valves in it, speaking of which should a pcv valve only pass air one way? Because every one I've got will let me blow through one way and when i try to blow through the other way it is more restrictive but still passes air. it also rattles like crazy, really noizey under the hood. Throttle body looks clean ive cleaned the aic valve and the egr, and it still stalls when it warms up, only when idiling in gear. Any other things that can cause a stall when stoped in gear? If I can stop the stall it will run perfectly!! Please help!! LOL Thanks

When you put tranny in gear, the ECM sends a signal to IAC valve to open it some to increase airflow and fuel so RPM stays about the same with extra load on engine for being in gear. You ECM may not be signaling this. Also, several years ago I had a bit of a idle problem with my 89. I cured it by readjusted idle stop on throttle plates in TBI to let plates close a bit more at a idle and force more air flow through IAC circuit. It seem with age and wear that it was leaking more air than when new at idle through plates and maybe valve guides and fuel mixture was off at times. When I rest as above, the problem went away and never came back. (IAC has its own fuel feed circuit too)

i just purchased a 79 chevy with 7" susp lift and 35" mud terrians on it the pinion and ring gear are gone in it. the guy i got it from says it has 3:42 in the front and 3:40 in the rear. now i was jus given a diff from a 1986 chevy not sure of what gears are in it could this be used jus to get me up and running even without checking what is in it for gear. and if not how close do the ratios need to be for it to be safe

Hey stroker, this isn't the right place to ask... you'll get a lot more hits if you start your own thread instead of posting in somebody elses.

Hey snowman, ill feel like an idiot if this is the problem but do you think the stall could be a clogged fuel filter? I replaced the filter in the tank when i did the fuel pump but i never changed the inline filter. The computer is only a year old, so I dont want to think the ecu is bad. Maybe the aic valve is bad, I never replaced it just cleaned it. It is comical at this point. Thanks for the help.
