I have a 99 silverado z71 ext cab with auto 4x4. I want to lift the truck. I want to do a 6" lift with a 3" block. What suspension kits have you had the best luck with and recomend. It will be installed by me and some friends who are mechanics. I am new to the suspension side so help me out with what i want to go with and what to stay away from and tell me what you have done.

RCD makes a good kit for that truck... a friend of mine has it on his truck and is pleased with it.

i have to say i prefer a kit with new springs rather than blocks. but if your not gonna get real stupid off road you'll be fine. blocks are usually easier to install and cheaper, but i've seen 'em come out when the axle wraps under torque. springs are worth the extra couple bucks if yer gonna play hard.

I only use new springs on a full size if it'll never haul a load or tow, the aftermarket lift springs are weak and don't hold up to alot of usage and wieght, I use blocks or a couple inch traction lift and a few added leafs.. I've never seen em come out of anything that was properly maintained, ya do actually need to put a wrench to the u-bolts once in a while. alot of stock rigs will take nearly a half turn or more to retoque the bolts unless they are stuck or have alot of corrosion.
both ford and dodge used/use stock riding on rear blocks to get the stock hieght they have.

Fords still use blocks from the factory, both my Ranger and F1 came with 2" blocks in the rear.
