so i got a 2005 2500hd duramax and was wondering if a 8.1 will bolt up to my tranny. can anyone help me out??

8.1 and Dmax has same bolt pattern on bell housing. You are going to have tranny calibration issues and will need a different control module for it.

thanks. what about engine mounts. would they need to be changed?

You will likely need the 8.1 motor mounts.
