is there a preferred brand? banks claims many other tuners have a dirty tune and will clog your soot filter. i am researching the subject because i am considering selling my scout and my 68 D200 and buying a later model truck with a diesel, probably a chevy since i used to work on them. any advice about diesel tuners would be great, i would probably get a high flow air filter and turbo-back exhaust and leave it at that.
oh ya, anybody know anything about f.a.s.s. fuel pump / filter setup? i have heard they are like magic when it comes to preserving the injectors on a duramax.

I've heard that Banks is the better of the ones' out there, although my brother runs Bullydog brand on his F250 and he swears by it. He says he doesn't have any probems with his filters.

2005, He got his from Summit at a really good deal. They were having some kind of sale, he got it for $400. How much are the Banks going for?

unless your buying a really new diesel with the dpf 2007 or 2008 then you don't have to worry about it, yeah the banks is a good unit most people will there are better tuners out there but thats just cuz the other tuners make more power without considereing engine longetivity

my goal would be to make improvements on what left the factory but not sacrifce longevity of critical components

yeah in your case i would go with the banks six gun it makes plenty of power and has safety features built in so that if something is going to damage enigne it will cut back power so you dont burn up a $10,000 motor or transmission, just make sure you get some sort of egt gauge and keep temps below 1,250 and you should be fine, other people say banks sucks and go to other really aggressive tuners that make crazy amount of power but kill the motors unless thier built to withstand the extra power and are driven by someone with commen sense

about the f.a.s.s fuel pump/ filter you really don't need it unless you motor is running a REALLY rich tune like stacked chips and fat injectors and a big turbo , the six gun fuels the motor just under the limits of the stock system so you really don't need it but the filering capabilities are nice though
