Ive thinking abouut changing out my axles since they are in real bad shape. I have a set that came out of a 81 suburban that had a 700r transmission and matching transfer case and I am installing them in a 79 full size pickup Im not sure if the gear ratio would be correct by doing this unless I bolt the transfer case out of the suburban to my th350 tranny Any advice about this project would really be helpful This is my 1st 4x4 and I trying to do it right without spending  a fortune on it I would even of istalled the 700r tranny but its burned out so Im left with the th350 automatic to build from to put this 4x4 back together  

This is curious since GM did not even have the 700R4 in 81 and it first appeared in 82 in 6.2 diesel SUV's and with gas engines in 83. Also you do not want any 700R4 earlier than 85 or with a 27 spline input shaft.
