I am looking to make a change on my 1991 Suburban (has a 4" lift I believe, maybe 6" - it was on it when I bought it).  The suburban is a 1/2 ton and is powered by a 350 with .373 gears.  I currently have 15" rims with 35" x 12.50" BFG All Terrain TKO AT tires on them.  They are nice looking tires, but I am looking for something of similar height but considerably narrower. I primarily use the truck during the winter for coyote hunting and spend a lot of time plowing thru deep snow in fields and down minimum maintenance roads and through sloughs.  Basically, I want something more aggressive and narrower without sacrificing clearance.  First off, is this the right direction I should be going and secondly, do you have any suggestions for tires?  I am working on a budget, so am not looking to spend lots of money on this project.  I am open to purchasing rims to go with the tires - something on the line of less expensive white spoke wheels - and am open to going to a larger diameter wheel to get the tires I need.  I am also hoping by going with a similar height tire but narrower it will help with the power as well.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciately.  

255x85-16's are right at 33" and 10.5 wide.
I ran a set of bfg M/t's that size. they were great in the slush and hard packed snow. on deep soft stuff they were just to narrow on the full size.

theres always the good ol' bias swamper ltb also in a 34x9.5 flavor. I'd want to stay over 10.5 in width if its gonna be making fresh tracks in the deep stuff.  

That's a pretty narrow tire for snow don't you think?

I'm surprised SnoMan hasn't chimed in on this one...
