I just bought a 1988 YJ.  The guy who owned it before me took the automatic choke out and jerry rigged a manual choke.  Also, he cut and pulled out wires from the carb and never re-connected them.  Now, the Jeep runs but no mechanic around will touch it.  Kinda funny but it's a pain.  It seems to keep floading itself.  Now I was told by one of the mechanics that if I could get the Fuel Injection Kit for it, he would install it.  Is it better to lose the carb and go with the injection kit?  To my understanding, that is alot of work.  I only paid $3000 for the jeep in the first place.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would suggest that you find a carb at boneyard to restore controls to carb or even get a rebuilt one because the electronic choke is part of carb that comes with rebuilt one. The FI kit will never pay for itself in money savings if you are on a limited budget and it can complicate future repairs as well do to its non standard configuration. Carbs are pretty simple to fix and can be very reliable.
