Not sure what you mean here, 409 and 348 were engine with flat heads (no chambers in heads) and the "chamber" was in cylinder. The only mains things a 396/427/454 has in common with a 348/409 is that they were all made at Tonowanda plant in NY and had same diameter rod bearing.

OH MY *** WTF  double blowers, it looks cool but is it really productive? im guessing he had to run really low comppression pistons so that it didn't blow up but cool idea, must of been an adventure running the custom fuel lines, throttle linkage and pulleys and such to get it to run, but what was up with the up and down idle?

The idle was likely a result of fuel management and cam/valve overlap and dual blowers throwing more into mix.

The reason I asked is because if they are pre 73 you do not want to use them unless you upgrade valves and seats. The fact that they are worn so much leads me to suspect that then are pre 73. Engines built before 73 expected to find lead in fuel to lube valve seats and had softer valves. Engine made after than had harder valves and seats.

okay i got my motor back togeth yesterday, and i go for a test drive today, i adjusted the timing and got it at perfect, firing at exactly 0 degrees on the timing thing above balncer, that helped motor run smoother but i was still dissapointed, it still smoked a lot less then before head work but still smoking, and i still had low power, couldn't even break lose the tires or beat an old camry off the line at a stop light, i havn't done commpression test yet but im pretty sure that at least one cylinder need new rings, so that lead me back to finding a new motor, the motor going into this thing has to be muscle car like and inspire much fun everytime the gas pedal is mashed, so i think ive narrowed my down though a 383 stroker or a 396 big block, the big block sounds really cool, but if i go with the 383 i can reuse my curent headers, edelbrock intake and carb and my fresh heads, i figure put in some real flattop pistons, a hot cam and combined with my fresh heads aluminum intake and edelbrock carb it should be preety healthy, any ideas

And it may need at least 89 octane fuel to to keep from knocking with that timing setting too but it will run better.
