With rising gas prices and the fact that my scout is my daily driver i am left with two choices. Sell my scout and get a motorcycle or put a diesel engine in my scout. Alot of choices so it is a little confusing but if at all possible i would like to make the changeover as simple as possible, meaning if i don't have to replace my entire driveline that would be great, but i don't wanna cut corners either and spit out driveline parts on a regular basis.  

do some homework... look at the history of the scout... some were actually offered with a diesel engine... might be worth looking into... there's also the 4BT cummins swap...  

yep, big ol' inline six turbo charged diesel...  

10 cylinder 5.0 litre vw touareg engine..hmm 500lbs ft from the factory,wonder what will happen when Banks gets hold of the engine  

i know about the diesel the scout came with, only had like 110 h.p. and like 180 ft lbs. torque.  

actually, the 4bt Cummins is an inline 4, same bolt pattern as the 5.9 liter, (the 4bt is a 3.9 liter) but not a turbocharged inline 6  

Hey..my mog only has about 120-130hp..it does ok. it does not go anywhere fast.....but it does go anywhere...

Kermy had the nissan SD33T in it...and it was about as gutless as the mog.....

But i am strangly ok with not going fast....
