You need a selectable locker, OX is my favorite, no need for onboard air. Especially if you tow alot. Like Snoman says you use a Detroit in a curve on wet pavement you could end up wearing your trailer as a hat! OUCH, major headache, selectable lockers are the way to go on any daily driver, open diff on highway, a spool when locked. I have OX on both front and rear axles of my CJ, you'll love'em.

Yes if you really want locker performance, selectable is the way to go. Replacement locker can have a lot of handling quirks in a daily driver.

The 10.5 has a problem with aftermarket because of its straddle mounted pinion design that limits carrier size and front side of ring gear. Also while I am not a big fan of GovLoc's, in the 10.5 is quite sturdy. You might notice that I generally do not push 10.5 as upgrades for 1/2 ton trucks but rather 14 bolt 9.5 semi floaters because not only because it weighs less, can be had in 6 lugs or has better clearance, it also has a lot more after market locker options because of carrier design. A 9.5 is about the equal of a D60 too.

It is a good unit and very sturdy and fully user rebuildable if need be.
