I have a 97 Yukon 4dr 4wd. My girlfriend drives it back and forth to work each day[20 miles round trip]. The other night coming home it made a grinding noise then a clunk. I went to get it and i was bring it home i noticed it only made the noise when you take off then stop. So i checked the fluid for any signs of metal only to noticed as i unscrewed the drain plug something came out. I fished it out of the drain pan here something was. It was a spring about 1.5" long with a cap that had a ball on one side and still attached to the spring. Anychance someone may know what or where inside the transfer case this goes? Better yet does anyone have a break down diagram of a 243C transfer case with a 272 ratio Thanks,Calvin

I have one "but" I am in the process of upgrading computer hardware here and swapping out my main system so my computer based GM manuals are off line until I get them reloaded on new system. I took a lighting strike here a few weeks ago and still sorting a few things out.
