I use chevron delo and penzoil.
I've used the full synthetics and notice little to no difference also don't have the balls to leave it in for 10K either.
if ya do your oil changes every 2500-3K the cheap stuff is just fine IMO.
Here's some interesting and opinionated oil info...

I trust delo"fully! i used castrol and did the 3000 pm religiosly!the best oil is the one you put in at 3k. if ya run a K/N type filter look to your oil more often ,any free'r flowing air filter will blacken your oil.and yes.. i am sure, someone will pipe in and say well, brand X dont do that, oil gets dirty,it wears more of your engine if ya leave it in too long. so save the lesson.

i always use the napa brand stuff and change it close to every 3K, but the pennzoil leaves carbon buildup. we saw that after tearing down a 400 small block, the guy we bought it from said he always ran pennzoil in it. so i dont know what it is about that stuff but it's not good.

i like mobil products, i have tried them all and my scout will burn a quart every 1000 miles, but with mobil regular or synthetic my scout only burns a quart every 2000 miles. i run mobil1 in my wife's car with a mobil1 filter and change her oil every 7500 miles and in my scout with regular oil i change every 3 months since i don't put alot of miles on it in three months. in my 68 pickup that rarely gets driven i change the oil every 6 months to keep the sludge from building up.

The trick here is to change oil often moreso than the brand or type(conventional/syn) of oil. Synthetic oils can do better in extreme heat or cold but they still get dirty and need changing. Poster bring up a interesting point about air filters. It is not that more air is getting into engine but because K&N's filter air LESS and let more grit pass which can wind up in oil. Myself I would NEVER use a K&N filter, especially off road were you need good filtering the most.

penziol didn't cause the sludge, not changing the oil regularly was the cause of that.

Yes... The problem with oil change intervals too is that as engine ages it need different (more often) changes than when new and tight and also how you drive and your climate plays a roll in interval too. This whole extended drain thing started in 80's when they used it as a marketing ploy to say new cars need less maintenance to offset vehicle higher costs and it has kinda gotten out of hand today.

Castrol Full Synthetic in the engine. and Royal Purple for everything else. Thats how I run all my rigs and it works great. It also helps to throw in a quart of Lucas engine oil treatment every few oil changes. It helps out great with engine wear and tear.

Never used Lucas or Royal purple (never will) and tried Castrol full syn many years ago and did not care for it. I have run several engine past 200k miles still going strong and the real trick is changing oil often and keeping engine cool (not letting it run hot) and this can add up to a very long service life.

opinions are like...well, you know.!!! we all agree that the real secret is changin the oil as regular as my bowels on a high fiber diet! no matter what what ya read, don't buy into the "extended life" oil crap. it may last longer, i don't know, but A FILTER still is made of paper and starts breakin down fast. Ford and some others are recommending 5-8k between changes...that's crap. i use full synth in ALL my vehicles but i still change every 3k like clockwork.

I run AMSOIL in my Ranger. I'm running it in the engine and diffs.
Before switching to AMSOIL I ran Mobil 1 Full Synthetic from day one in the Ranger.
The DD F1 get's whatever synth-blend it is that Ford puts in. For my warranty's sake I let the dealer handle it.
