Does anybody have any idea how hard it would be to do this mod? And will I have to move cab mounts?

Good luck on this one. Granted anything is possible with enough time and money but there is a MAJOR difference in frame shape and how it is attached. If you want to try this I suggest you find a 2000 an older 3500HD's and study how they did it. These were actually 4500 series trucks and frames with P/U cab grafted to them. (they are not to be confused to Silverado 3500's as they are much lighter duty than these older 3500HD trucks were)

i don't think it would be hard at all.
the major difference starts at the firewall forward..

there may be a problem with the side mounted fuel tanks, though a tank from a suburban may cure that if ya ditch the spare tire hanger.

jump in the box and measure the mount bolts to compare them with the old iron. that would be a start.

There is more difference than that. Old frame is basically straight and flat in cab and front area, 95 is neither. Frame is much narrower in front on 95 because of need for room for control arms for IFS too.

why??? i think a straight axle conversion would be a butt load easier if that's the goal.

The "conversion" by virtue of frame does not make swap any easier. GM radically changed frame design in front vs older models. It could be done but it will take a LOT of time and money to get it to all play out. It would be far easier to graft 78 axles and drive train to 95 body and chassis.
