i live in england and just bought a 1979 F150 ford pickup it's a 6.6 litre v8 engine. it's running very unevenly, there is a pump mounted low down on the engine block, left hand side as you look in under the hood.
it should have a pulley on it connecting it to the crank shaft, the pump is seized and there is no pulley. i think the pump is to do with the carburator/exhaust but i am not sure. i need to know the american term for this item. in England it's called a vacuum pump but no one stateside seems to recognise this term. do i need to buy a new item or is there a reconditioned kit available? Does anyone have a part number for this item? i am currently paying 8 bucks a gallon here in england for gas so it's kind of important i get my fuel economy sorted out.
Also does anyone know where i can get the full comprehensive workshop manual for this vehicle?
can anyone help?
Thank you
Andy

Take a photo and post it, maybe someone can identify it easier. As far as manuals go try go on line and Google; Chilton. They make manuals for just about every make and model vehicle.
