I have access to an 80's model diesel isuzu pup that the tranny is missing.  I was told that the gas tranny would not fit behind the diesel.  Do any of you guys or gals know of a tranny that will fit behind this engine?

Thanks,

Anthony

There are two transmissions that will fit behind the C223 Diesel engine.  The diesel transmission that came with the truck, or two, there was an S10 made in the 80's (EXTREMELY RARE) that came with the Isuzu 2.2 litre diesel engine.  That particular bell housing fits on the normal T5.

Or three, you can find a gas trans out of an 81 to 86 Pup, or 81 or 82 Chevy Luv.  But the catch is that you have to have the bell housing (front half of the case) from a diesel trans.  The bellhousing will swap out.  you can go 4 speed to 4 speed, or 5 speed to 5 speed gas to diesel bellhousing that way.
If you go gas trans with diesel bellhousing, you must also have the slip yoke out of the gas trans.  Take it apart at the first U-Joint, or just cut it off behind the ujoint and have it welded on to your old driveshaft.

and the best site to get questions like this answered would be http://isuzupup.com

there is an excellent forum isuzu pup.com but I think that mine is a gasser. I had to change 1 bearing to make it work. I think. that was a while back.
