reminds me of my dads '72, black and orange, FN awesome...took it camping and fishing all the time, i wish he still had it...oh and just an observation...this K5 in the thread looks like a 69 or 70 model because of the grille,'71 and '72, if i remember right didnt have the thick bowtie bar running in the center of the grille, they had more of a honeycomb type grille...

My Dad had a big Orange Suburban 4wd that came with the 402 4spd. It was the ugliest thing you ever saw but he was proud. He retired from the Flint Truck assembly where all the 'burbs and blazers were built up til around early 90's. I guess this big blue blazer fed me as a kid!

yep, it's 69-70..71-72 has a plastic grill, the earlier 67 and 8's are short and have a more sloped off hood.

Yep their was never a "original" BB in a K5. Only way it got there was someone swapped it in. The biggest original motor a K5 ever saw was a 400 SB in mid and late 70's. It was with a automatic and full rime 4x4 too.

My dad's was factory installed in his suburban but it was also a factory "P.E.P." specially spec'ed out by a plant bigshot with some other goodies not common on the trucks of those days. Dad spotted the truck and wanted it for the awful orange color and tagged it for employee purchase. So it is possible that a k5 blazer made it out alive with a BB you'd have to know the vin. Would'nt it be cool if this was the case here? Rare bird to say the least.

I very seriously doubt that it ever shipped with a BB for any reason. With a burb it is not far fetched because 1/2 and 3/4 ton 2wd were available with 454's 73 and later. GM never even offered a BB with a 4x4 truck or burb until 80's as SB's and BB's became even weaker. It would be easy for anyone to swap in a BB and call it factory because it will drop right in as bolt pattern is the same. Heck you could remove a 250 six back then and bolt a BB right in. That K5 does not have stock/factory engine in it. The only thing factory about that motor for sure is that the motor itself was made at a GM plant in New York.

Oh I know. I'm just saying that growing up near Flint I saw some really odd one off stuff. I just said it is possible. Not probable, but none the less possible. Like I was saying 'bout my Pop's 'burb it was a special request by a plant honcho at the Flint assembly plant where my dad worked for 30+ yrs. I know it was never offered as a prod. eng. it just makes me wonder sometimes.

That statement about blazers/jimmys only came with a 400 sb and an auto is false becasue i have sitting in the drivway a 79 jimmy factory 4 spd 205 that had a 4oo sb in it. it even says thats what it came with on the glovebox tag.......

thats a sick blazer.i would like to put a 396 in my 77 cheyenne the 350 in it is kinda worn out and in pushing 33 12.50 maxxis big horns if i rebulit it into a 383 stroker it would be fine for those tires but i like the 396. its my daily driver tho and gas prices are getting way too out of control. so i think i will wait for that.
