I'm thinking about building an S10 blazer.
Here is what Im thinking.
Full floating 14 bolt rear (stock), D60 front (stock), 5.13 gears, 37 X 20 tires on a 15 inch rim, carburated 350, 700r4 tranny, stock tcase with aftermarket reduction unit and about 10 inches of lift.
I have the 14 bolt and need the D60, I can get a 350 easy. I am assuming that the OD tranny that comes factory is a 700r4 (please correct me if im wrong). I am also assuming that the 350 will be a direct swap not requiring relocating the motor mounts (If it does I will just stick with the V6). I have no idea what the tcase is and if there is anything that I will need to do to it to have this work.
My question is... Is this possible and are my assumtions correct. Also... does anyone know anything about the tcase in these vehicles. Also, does anyone have any other sugestions that would make this better or easier?

Actually I would use less axle in a smaller vehicle like that (save weight off road) I would use a Dana 50 in front and a GM 9.5 semi floater in rear as they would both do fine here.

I agree with Mud, I'd almost say even go with a Dana 44 front and a Ford 9" in the rear.
And you're going to have a tough time fitting 15's over the brakes on those axles... many will tell you they will fit, but really they don't.

Thanks for the info on the rim size.
I would rather be a little heavy than to have something break. I do plan on beating on the axles. And why would the D44s on my waggy not work with those tires on it but they will work with them on the blazer. Couldn't I just lighten up the waggy and have the D44s work on it. And maybe I could run some 40s on the blazer with the 14 bolt and D60?
Sorry naughtydodge04... I dont have the loot to spend on a new motor... I would just be getting a stock 350 from the 70s out of the bone yard for $175 and camming it.
Does anyone have any info on the tcase and can I get a confirmation on the 700r4? Also... I dont recall if the blazers had coils springs on them but I would be running leafs all around. Does anyone know if the V6 chevy can be swapped out for a SB V8 with out any issues like moving motor mounts or changing trannys?

HEY BUFF...I HAVE D44 ON MY 79 CHEROKEE THAT HAS 15" WHEEL ON IT, SO IN THE CASE THEYLL WORK.
AS FAR AS A 350 FITTING IN THE BLAZE THEN YES THE MOUNTS ARE THE SAME AND WILL BOLT UP TO TRANS,THE 350 IS THE SAME BLOCK AS A 4.3 W/2 CYL CUT OFF AND IF YOU WANT TO RUN THE ACC DRIVE FOR ALT,PS PUMP THE YOU CAN SWAP THAT ON THE 350 FROM THE V6 TOO....HOPE THIS HELPS!

Your transfer case is a New Process (used in almost all GM) probably a NP205, it should have a metal tag on the case telling you which one for sure but for what you wanna do,, its probably a decent piece...and i would not bother swapping the 4.3, I would freshen it up and drop in a good towing/RV cam and lifter set and rock on!!!

NP205? isnt that gear driven? Even if it was a np208 i would be happy. and fat guy... I like to have an engine I can work on and the 4.3 is not one of them.... carburated V8s are. Im sure the 4.3 would have plenty of power but there is no replacment for displacment.
Keithpapa... thats what I thought about the V6 and 350 swap. Thanks for confirming
If anyone knows what tranny is in the s10 blazer let me know....
