I did some checking around and research on it and it is a interesting design. While it is not a true locker in the sense that the axles are mechanically locker together with a dog clutch or such it still can be called a locker for all intents and purposes. It is a clutch based LSD diff which a healthy clutch pack in it and when locked it ramps up pressure on the clutch pack to the point of lockup. (GM factory "lockers" long worked this way though user has no direct control over it) With this diff the lockup is controlled electrically and because of the way it works it can be engaged smoothly at any speed and load unlike some others that that require alignment of pins or dog clutches to lock up. This means you can lock it up anytime you want too and not have to get out of it or stop to do so and disengage it under power too. Personally I have long preferred LSD over lockers like Detroit and Lock Rights and so on because the later one do not have ability to power both wheels in a turn at different speeds. Also it is a torque controlled LSD which mean more power put into it the more it grabs before you even lock it up so to speak. I think it is a good product for what it is worth.

Yes it sounds pretty cool, but do you see any problems putting one in a 8.5" GM 10 bolt?

No, none at all. It is stronger than a G80 (Grenade)GovLoc in a 10 bolt for sure. Also unlike early Auburn LSD's that used friction cones in carrier case, this one uses a strong clutch pack.

One thing to I learned about the Auburn limited slip design is this: The conical sections that actually do the locking up can be easily destroyed by mashing the gas pedel with one tire on a low traction surface and the other on a high traction surface... For example accelerating on to the freeway from the loose dirt sholder. I don't know if the same design is used in the ECTED locker though. Just something to consider.
You can do anything you dare to dream.

As I stated earlier, it DOES NOT use the conical clutch hub design of earlier Auburns. I never liked that design myself and thought it was a weakness in service life and rebuilding. The ECTED uses a conventional HD clutch pack design for the LSD part of it and applied even more force to it to lock it up. Also in LSD mode it operates kinda like the old sturdy Chrysler/Dana SureGrip LSD's that increases gripping force in clutch pack as more input torque is applied.

Try it out then give us a full report. I have the G80 locker in my truck, never personally had a problem, but I've heard complaints.

G80 are known to grenade in 10 bolts with big tires and hard usage. The 9.5 and 10.5 versions hold up a lot better but all of them has posi disabled above about 20 MPH or so (based on stock tires size)
