Hey Everyone. Im new to the group. I have a 2005 Ford Ranger XLT with the V6 3.0L. Unfortunatly, its only a 2 wheel drive. But i love the looks of an off road vehicle. I bought my truck damaged, it was rolled into a ditch. I repaired the dents and gave it a custom paint job to a showroom finish. Im not sure how far i wan to take this build. Money is a factor as well. Is is possible/worth it to put a transfer case in and turn this into a 4WD truck? Also, what are some cosmetic sugestions. Lift? Big Tires? Brush Guards? I dont know what to do as far as... its only 2wd, would it look tacky?
Thanks Everyone!

money dosnt have to be an obstical, put yor nuggit to work, imagin what ya want, then do it! a set of jeep axles may be able to let themselves be finnessed under the ranger, or, make a pre runner style waggin, lift big tires and a soft suspension to soak up the bumps,go fast and comfy!and as for tacky,if your worried what your friends are gonna think, dont ,its your truck, do whatcha feel! welcome to the neighborhood!happy wheelin

I think NaughtyDodge is on to something...a prerunner might be cool, especially if you live anywhere near the desert or dunes. Converting to 4wd? here's whatcha do: get a ski mask and a small handgun...

Lol. Yeah i figured it would be a very exspensive mod. In your opinions, do you consider people with 2wd vehicles but decking them out with 4x4 gear to be "posing"?

NO. got that! have you seen some of the desert race trucks?? hmm some are set up for a foot of travel, and i read some where the baja trucks can run up to 150 plus...magine that and they go all day.hows 3 less thins to worry bout, front axle, transfer case and weight. Now just because you build a truck that can do that, doesnt mean you can, git some training b4 ya screw up your truck or worse, yourself, now ime not downin you or your abilitys and please dont take it as such, try a set of nice rims and look at the "BAJA *** from bfg, build the truck to the enviroment where ya wanta run buck wild ahh, kinda, and most of all ask for advice on how to build somthing you cant handle, its gonna b cool to show off what YOU! did to the bros on weekends, Some folks here have definit great ideas on building a project rangerrrrr-grrr..any way, theres bigger factory bolt in axles, take stock of whatcha got first, aaigt! look at the 8.8 rear from some rangerrrs, then look at factory traction adders, then look at the after market, youd be suprised how ffar a clued up driver will go,drive elegant, and git er done with class, look at four wheel parts wholesalors.com you can enter your yaer and modle of wagon and itll give ya info on whats available for your truck, some parts are the same 2 and 4 wheel drive, happy wheelin!
