So I was able to hold out for a year and a half, but history has a way of catching up with me. I thought I would be able to finally resist the temptation of installing larger tires on mt truck, but I really don't see a reason to. I have been looking for H2 wheels casually for awhile and found them for a steal at the offroad swapmeet along with a friend with a tire hook-up so the ball started rolling. The H2 wheels with the stock Chevy HD center cap now lie in 305/70/R17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. That's metric speak for a hair enough smaller than 35's to fit my stock truck. A little trimming of the plastic airdam was all it needed to fit. I just hope these will help out in the sand when hauling all the toys in.

Thanks guys, I even got a chance to test them out in some sand today and I got to say that they might be winners. Can't wait till Pismo.

Bonus!!, inexpensive wheels that also make the truck look tuff. Nice choice of tire!
