I have a 2000 f250 with a dana 50 front axle. It started to whine the other day, makeing metal. I want to know if you can rebuild the 50 with d60 parts to make it a true d60.

No you cannot. Different ring gear size and carrier. D50 is pretty sturdy though and if lube is kept fresh and clean it should last a long time. For what it is worth, the D50 is rated at about 90% of the torque capacity of a D60 so there is not a huge difference here
