hey guys,
i own an 81 W250, it currently has a not running 360 lol.  planning on rebuilding it for the summer.  Now i want to put a set of 40-44" boggers under it with the smallest lift possible to keep the center of gravity low.  I saw it done once with a full size bronco on 4" of lift, but it required alot of cutting.  any ideas?

I would say the fender flares, plus an 8 inch lift and some 40's. with that set up you would have an awsome wheeler. good luck.

If you want some 40 to 44's, you better be upgrading drive axle too, especailly the front one and you will need some serious axle gears too. You are kinda getting into rockwell territory.

yeah, well i definitely dont want to go with an 8" lift because i want to keep the center of gravity low, 6" is the most i'd do with massive trimming and maybe even decrease the tire size to 39.5.  The front axle on this thing is the oddball 3/4 ton D44 right?

well a 6" will work with a bunch of trimming and the 3/4 ton 44 is not oddball at all as i have one on my chevy. And 39.5 is a good tire size, not to big and not to small. just dont lock the front or you will break every time. And to snoman there is no way 40"-44" is in rockwell teritory, and if you think it is are you saying everyone in the 2008 top truck is dumb because they have 44 boggers running 14 bolts and dana 60's?

alrighty, so i simply swap in a D60 in the front, maybe do some axle mods and i should be good to go? i think i will go with a 5-6" lift with a bunch of trimming after all and stick with the 39.5s.

I believe the full size Bronco you are refering to was known as the Government Mule. It Ran with the TTC group in 98 I think. The fenders on that rig were cut a whole bunch and I think he had less than 6-inches of lift. You know, some rubbing is worth the low CG in my opinion. I say lift it a little and simply put tube or other deflective material where ever the tires hit the sheetmetal and run it. The gains in stability would be epic.

You can do anything you dare to dream.

yes i think that was the one, I think i still have the magazine somewhere haha.  yeah thats what i was thinking, low CG would definitely be worth it, but i would like to keep the truck looking as stock as possible.  i'll have to do some measuring and drawing, see what i come up with.  Thanks for all the help guys!
