the s10 may be better in comfort and ride and power 4.3v6 and reliabilty but the ifs is weak for heavy off road use. the jeeps solid axle is stronger and the 4x4 system tends to take abuse alot better, engine 4.0i6 is really strong and reliable too but a little worse on mpg...i guess its more of a preference...the looks?...it depends on what you like some s10 are cool looking decked out same with some jeeps... alot of work to make s10 solid if heavy offroad use is what you want, go with jeep if you dont want to swap solids on the s10...go with s10 if you want good comfort and good light offroad use!

IFS is not as fragile as some would lead you to believe. Were is gets a bad wrap is when people lift them and install tires and lifts well beyond there design limitations. (like 35's and 38's and 1/2 ton LD trucks) Properly designed for tires size IFS and take a LOT of abuse and have superior rides. Solid axle are easy to lift so are more popular with some. When I first started plowing snow with a IFS front end on a GM K3500 SRW nine years ago I was apprehensive but my fears are long gone. It handles and tracks better than any solid axle plow truck I have every run or owned even when carrying a plow. Use reasonable sized tires for chassis and lube it often with moly grease (not lithium) about every oil change and it will hold up well. Moly grease is superior here and they hold a up a LOT better using it. My front end is still pretty tight after 9 winters of carrying and 700 lb plow on it. (BTW, it is not a diesel because I do not want weight of it and plow on front axle). I love the CV's in front drive axle that had no u-joint bucking/whipping in steering wheel under high power in tight turns with good traction.

not getting too deep into parts and the different suspension set ups and axles, i'd say it depends, thats a very vague question,i have a zr2 and id say on the trail a jeep has a better advantage beacause of its short wheel base enabling it to make tighter turns and climb hills with a sharper crest without skimming the rocker panels. but as for everyday driving and hauling the s-10 is by far better and it does go about anywhere ive tried to take it off road..of course this is comparing a stock zr2 and a stock jeep

im not a big fan of jeeps because they roll to easy and there bad on gas and everyone has them. i think a s10 can do the same thing that a jeep can just lift it a little higher.and also more badass looking

When you lift the s10 a little higher then your asking to rollover and as for it going anywhere that a jeep can you would have do allot of mods and beat a s10 allot harder.

jeeps dont roll that easy, i get 16mpg, and everyone has one for a reason. think about it. jeeps do a pretty good job at making others look bad on the trail.
the only advantge a s10 woud have is cargo room and towing ability.
02 TJ with lots of extra junk "I would do bad things to get you to make those kabobs again"
