If you don't recall our secretive ploy to make a replica of the Original 1952 XM151 Grill for the M151-LC then good as you will be surprised to see just how great the grill came out.

The grill is now now finished and it came out fantastic better then I ever dreamed it would come out.

Here is the 1952 XM151 Prototype Jeep to refresh everyone's memory and then new grill made from a M38 and M151A2 grill I had in the shop, the original photo just haunted Nate and I we just had to have that early look and now that insane vision has come to pass...LOL

This is what the final stock Grill of the M151A1 series Military Jeep looks like. The A2 grill had fender mounted Composite lights. The M151 and M151A1 had grill mounted blackout lights.

We still need to do some heat stripping, prime and paint the grill and install the headlight bucketts but heck a few hours and we will have the grill mounted on the M151-LC at long last.

Your right that what we thought about it too...LOL People who own stock M151's will take a double look at the grill and go what the F!!!! And people who own Jeeps in general won't know the grill was changed after the first prototype built in 1952 when the Govt Contract between Willys and Ford ended.

The Willys Kaiser Military M151 1961-63 would have had a grill like this but Ford was still angry over the whole grill subject from back in 1952, Ford had the Contract and Willys Kaiser was brought in to increase model production so the Ford Grill was selected as the production line grill on all M151 Jeeps by the Dept of Defence claiming Uniformity as the final desicion.

Many people always ask me why the two Jeeps Grills are different and that is the reason.

yeah, i definatly like the willys grill better. looks more natural with the slats running up and down as opposed to side to side.

I work to support my Jeep

I LOve this design as it still has the outer apperance of the M151 grill with the special haunting look of the Willys Overland Grill centered, it stick out to Ford and Willys owners alike.

Well since Nate and Micki are in school I decided I would take on the XM151 grill and got the grill heat stripped and sanded real nice, then I gave the grill 3 coats of Primer, and should have the grill painted with headlight buckettes mounted this afternoon.

Then I plan to do one more test fit of the grill on the M151-LC just because I want to see how cool it looks and have a pictures to post on here later when I come back and edit the post. So check back and see the final results.

Since Nate and micki were in school all day I decided to take on the new grill and get it sanded, heat stripped primed and painted and installed it on the front of the M151-LC so everyone can see how the Jep will look.

Of course I had to pull it right back off as I am busy welding new motor mounts under the hood. But at least everyone will get a chance to check out the insane new look...LOL enjoy. Comments welcome as always.
