ya wont have to mess with the tranny, you'll need some 5.38 gears for the 38's and heftier axles if your gonna do anything other than pound pavement.

Even if you just pound pavement you are going to need more than stock gears with 38's and brakes are going to suffer too. The rear axle should be a 8.8 which should live fore a while if you do not lock it but the front drive axle will be on borrowed time. I would suggest limiting it to 35's with stock drive axles. (I would still regear it though with say 4.88's)

yep, 35's max and 4.88's would definately be a good idea!

I think i have an answer..........just get a f-350 super duty!!! seriously though snoman said it right...the gear swap will save your tranny..its a must no matter what anyone says...which im sure they will find out soon enough! As far as the axle's go hes also right..i have a 99 f-250 that was a two wheel drive with springs that i converted to a f-350 one ton 4x4 with leafs....the axles will hold up fine on the pavement but the drive train will suffer as a hole if you off road it alot but if you are looking for a cool looking city ride it will be fine!
