I just recently bought a Dodge Ram 1500 with the 4.7 liter v-8, and it is of course 4 wheel drive with locking dif. I was just curious what the max size tires I could go with, without any modifications to the truck. Thank you greatly for your time and advice

YOU COULD PROBABLY GET AWAY WITH 265/75/16 OR POSSIBLY 285/75/16 WITH NO LIFT AND VERY LITTLE RUBBING...IF THERES RUBBING YOU COULD EITHER TRIM A PORTION OF WHERE THE TIRE RUBS OR PUT A LEVELING KIT ON....IS THIS A 1/2TON W/IFS OR 3/4 SOLID? IF SOLID YOU MAY BE ABLE TO GO LITTLE BIGGER...

Hmmm well I do know that my truck came stock with 17s on it so what would be the best type and size in that case for basically just straight mud.

Bigger tires are going to place more strain on tranny and reduce performance unless you regear it too. (OD will suffer noticeably) No tune, aircleaner or exhaust is going to fix that.
