NaughtyDodge04:
Waitle jeep and dodge cross pollinate,er breed in the secret labs of Moab,a full size jeep Pick up for 2010,evil laugh and wringing of hands...will you have a better dodge ,or less of a jeep? kinda what Twain said about cats,if you cross a cat and a man,you will add to the man and take away from the cat!

LOL, you kind of have a dark side to ya NaughtyDodge04 with the evil laugh and wringing of hands, LOL.

Anyway, back to S-10 and Jeep.

You can't really compare all the Jeeps to an S-10, they are not all in the same catagory.  You would need to compare the S-10 Blazer to an XJ, ZJ, or WJ, and compare the S-10 pick up to like the little Comanchee (I don't know if I spelled that one right, LOL).  The S-10 would have a better on road ride.  I would give off-road to the Jeep.  I have owned a 1989 S-10 Blazer and a 1996 S-10 Blazer (4-door).  The 95 and newer Blazers (93-newer S-10 pickups) ride better than the older box S-10.  Fuel mileage for the 89 was in the low 20's in highway and the 96 got 26 MPG consistantly on the highway (that is better than I have heard anyone else with the same vehical).  I have had a 95 ZJ for a couple months now and that will get around 17 -19 MPG on highway, with a head wind around 15-16, and if no wind on flat land I can sometimes get 20 MPG out of it, and that is a full time 4X4 so it is very comparable to the Oldsmobile Bravada (full time 4X4 version of the S-10).  There does not need to be any argument about it.  Make it a personal preferance choice.

I've had a s-10 blazer 89 and the 4x4 never worked for long same with the s-10 pick-up I had, but the 2-wheeldrive s-10 hauled but it would have made a good pre-runner,and as for both of my jeeps they both did what ever they were expected to do and more.

whoooo! and i thought the ford vs chevy was intense! Listen here, i own a 1988 chevy s10 blazer 2 dr and a 2001 s10 pickup crewcab. a couple of my buddies own jeeps, one is a cj wrangler,01, with 2.5" of lift and 31s, and the other is cherokee,98, with 6.5+" of lift and 33s. both jeeps are great lookin rigs and i would love to have either one of them. but my pickup climbed the same sand hill as the cherokee with little effort. the hill was easy to moderate in difficulty, but i was impressed by my truck capabilities. and as for my blazer vs wrangler, i kept up w/ the wrangler in a foot of snow and my blazer has now mods done to it. it has been said before, its all matter of preference. but for me is was neccesity, since i have a 19 month old daughter to drive around, and couldnt afford a nicer vechile for the wife after the truck payments. by the way, the blazer was 500 bucks and it was worth every penny.

In all fairness, todays Jeep are nothing like their original concept. TO me they basically stopped being true Jeeps around 94 when they did away with leaf springs in front.

well nobody can make a rig thats worth anything anymore.once you buy new it depreciates by 30% the first day! and with the materials used (plastic, cheap fabrics, flimsy mounting fasteners) schit just falls apart faster than older rigs. so no matter what your gonna buy it wont last as long as yesterday.

Look all i can say is anyone can go buy a jeep and take it to a suspension shop and have a lift and tires put on and call it a rock crawler.trust me our local trails are flooded with these guys who buy a jeep one day then all the sudden overnight they bacome expert off roaders. NOW IM NOT KNOCKING ANY BRANDS.BUT I CAN TELL YOU MY 1977 SHORT BOX CHEVY WILL SPEND ABOUT A YEAR IN THE GARAGE GETTING A FULL COMPLEMENT OF OFFROADDESIGN PRODUCTS BEFORE IT EVER SEE'S ANOTHER TRAIL.THAT TO ME MAKES A RIG TO BE PROUD OF.GOOD LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU WHEEEL.JUST HAVE FUN AND TREAD LIGHTLY.........

A Jeep "wrangler" is not half the Jeep it used to be. Chysler civilized it too much for profit and sales and lost what it was all about. AMC did more to keep a Jeep a Jeep than Chrysler ever did as them morphed it into more car than Jeep. I remember when you could buy a real Jeep long ago, not any more though.

Here are my scenarios:
Baja: S10
Stock trail and rock crawling: Jeep
A specifically built truck that you can be proud of because it’s custom and you built it without a bunch of played-out and over-rated bolt on parts: s-10

Put it this way, if I wanted something that was prebuilt and needed nothing unique, I would buy a jeep and a paint-by-numbers poster from DJ Hobby down the street. But if I wanted a rig that I could be proud of because I did a 4 link and coilover swap, I' d go with a Ford or Chevy any day. Dont get me wrong, Jeeps are great stockers, but I prefer to build my trucks, not slap on a bunch of bolt-ons!

92 S10 Blazer
10 bolt SFA w/ posi
14 bolt rear w/locker
Forged 350 w/ KB pistons,
comp cams cam, edelbrock intake manifold & heads, headers w/ strait pipe, 87 TBI swap.

i own 2 s10, a 88 blazer and a 01 pickup, im not takin ne off road capabilities away from them, but i will say that they need more maintanance than a jeep does wen it comes to wheelin them. two of my buddies own jeeps and all they do is change the oil and wash off the mud. but i have to not only do that but grease the front end, check ball joints, cv shafts, etc. get wat im sayin? if you went stock vs stock, hands down jeep would win off-road. its just the on pavement ride that makes s10 more sensible. and muscleman, wat do you do? take ur s10 to the closest mudhole? do you even have any tight trails that take articulation to navigate without ruinin ne thing? s10's arnt the best without major modification. but if you have the time and muny 2 do it, all the power to ya.
