im looking at getting a 1990 K1500 5.7 V8. anyone know if this truck might make a good truck to play with as far as just some light off roading? theres nothing special done to it....yet. i just want something to haul a 4 wheeler around and raise some hell in the dirt. i wanted to get someing a little newer but the wife put a spending limit on me  

Left fairly stock it is pretty sturdy as it sits and will take a fair amount of abuse. The IFS handles well on and off road and rides nice too. When you start lifting this 1/2 ton and putting bigger tires on them you actually weaken them some because these larger item place more stress on truck even on street. Laeft stock though you will be very hard pressed to break front or rear drive axles or their suspensions.
