Whats up with  the honda ridgeline? I know its not a die hard 4x4 but it is a 4x4. I have owned 10 different trucks for different reasons the honda is fantastic the features this rig offers is overwelming.I cant understand why four wheeler never mentions the ridgeline. I read the mag monthly but hardly a blerb.By the way I also have a 88 K blazer for serious wheelin But at $3.00 per gallon those days are few.The honda offers 4x4 fun on a limited level but at better mpg.

That one is simple. The Ridgeline is NOT a 4x4... it's an AWD. It does not have, and is not offered with a 2-Speed transfercase. No 4-Low... not 4x4.

Last time a drove one of these I thought the thing was a pile... thats just my opinion though. Total turd.

So that means we will never see the Patriot or Compass in FW also?

I asked about that a while back... the basic response I got was something to do with the brand. The Jeep brand has been legendary in the 4wd scene and by the token alone the new Jeeps deserve some sort of mention, even if they arn't 'real' Jeeps. You'll likely never see a Compass or Patriot feature, project, or will it ever be able to compete in FWOTY, but road tests are fair game.

Thats what I gather anyway, Sean or Doug would be the ones to really fill you in on why those exceptions are made.

maybe a shootout between a mercedes ml55, a bmw and a portia,uh porcia,uh porsiah dang cant afford one anyway, and a lexus and a volvo to see which poser x4 would at least have a modicum of talent enough to survive a excursion of the pavement in snow and turnrow mud,i know the creeper test but, mebbe car and driver or road and track would skwit their chonies at the sight of their beloved posers being used somewhat as the mfg commercials show, hmm truth in advertising, now that would be interesting to see...maybee real 4x4 have sticks on the floor!!!

Something tells me that BMW, Merc, Porsche, Volvo, ect probably don't want us destroying their six figure SUV's... just a hunch... lol

I remember seeing one or the other in either FW or Petersons. Wasted pages if you ask me. When I saw that I lost a lot of respect for the magazines. I still subscribe but now I read them knowing that they are written with a bias towards jeeps. Jeep could (and has) put out crap and some of the writers would praise it as the best thing since the invention of the wheel. I realize the significance of the jeep name, but the name has been sold many times over and you know as well as I do that the GI's who drove the first Bantam's Ford GPW's and Wyllis would be turning over in their graves if the compass or patriot were shown to them then.

I see quite a few of the p.o.s.'s up here in MT. the people that drive them look so cool...NOT! every time i pull up next to one i laugh at the driver, they just look away because he knows that he shouldnt have bought it. my 93 CHEVY k1500 will run circles around them. it seems that only yuppies drive these shtboxes thinking its 4wd.
i laugh because i even seen one this hunting season w/orange in the cabin, i think the deer and elk were laughing too!
so needless to say, i'm happy to NOT see them featured in the mags

rock on!!!!
